after posting this blog last night, and then deleting it because it didn't feel like time yet... lol human things.. i realize, this is the medicine of Suguaro. i didn't realize everyone on my emailing list would still receive an email, & nothing was there until receiving a text "Grandfather didn't make it? " lol plant silliness always keeps me laughing. this is SO the medicine of Suguaro.. patience.
masters of time, teachers of patience.. Suguaros understand so much about time. so what is time? as felt sense.. how to dance with time & elemental connection that nourishes the senses & connects one more deeply to Mother Earth along one's journey of time on Earth..
a wise person that will be reading this blog (you know who you are lol!) once told me
"all it takes it a moment of courage" subtly time is woven into this.. yet not at all.
moments of courage happen in time & outside of time.. they're offered at any time, & available in each moment in time.. deep attunement & listening allows this timing to operate from wisdom. Suguaros know this, and teach this. focused concentration is soo important right now.
Suguaros are so courageous because they literally stand in one place under the radiant fire of the desert sun for 150-200 years.. they don't have legs, they have chosen and adapted to the fire of the sun, & thrive in it. it takes an extraordinary amount of courage to sit in the fire of love, the fire of transformation, "the furnace of god" as Grandma Anna would call it.. & find stillness here. find peace here, & to find one's strength here. it is no surprise that Grandfather Suguaro has kindly opened his heart to me in these moments of life to gently whisper remembrance along my path..

sometimes plant relationships are so fluid like "of course" best friends, lovers, friends soul mates at first sight, smell, sense, re-membrance.
sometimes plants are so loud in their call to humans that it just cant be ignored.
some plants are soft in their calling... gently fragrancing and adorning their way into one's life.. sometimes over the course of many years, gently tapping one on the shoulder, whispering their beautiful plant songs until divine timing aligns.
some exceptionally mysterious weaving synchronicity into order, leaving me stumped trying to make s e n s e & understand how they so intelligently weave and communicate.
though plants are always on time, in my recent learning, some plant relationships take years to even open.

the first time i "officially" met the Suguaros was 3 years ago at Suguaro National Park. at this time, their ethereal fierceness left me feeling intimidated & slightly afraid. my body contracted as i feel into deep reverence & respect of them and the ancient wisdom/power they hold as time keepers & guardians of the desert terrain. This resistance to them was
p a l p a b l e, so i thanked them gently left an offering & let them be.
i sensed both hesitation from them & me.. obviously they could see so much more than me.. & only years later can i somewhat understand.
the connection wasn't ready to open (likely i wasnt ready to hear them)
3 years later, on a beautiful spring day under the radiant shimmering desert sun, i felt so grateful, humbled, honored, to feel this connection opening.
masters of time, their lessons utterly brilliant
that of deep patience.
deep sustenance.
spinal integrity.
radical/remarkable sustainability.. adaptability, resiliency.
they show what it takes to sustain life in one of the most barren, driest landscapes on the planet. & that too, of what it might take to sustain life in my own body/being.
leaving me in wonder of what sustainability even means? what does a truly sustainable future look like? what does a truly sustainable earth look like?
Suguaros live around 150-200 years which means they stand tall in 1 spot under the desert sun every day for 200 years...
Suguaros that grow around 50 feet have root systems around 100 feet deep.. yet most Suguaro roots growing around 5 feet into the soil beneath.. (this is still almost as tall as I am)
this leaves me wondering of their relationship with water & the sun..
they understand how to utilize every drop of liquid life, through deep relationship. & somehow, though all plants have potentially unique relationships with the sun & water, it seems like maybe Suguaros have relationship with the sun thats ancient beyond understanding.
maybe Suguaro teaches that in order to sustain life, deeper relationship with the water, & the sun is a good place to start. not only externally, but internally too.. coming into deeper relationship with the water we drink, letting her guide the way.. & intrinsically to the inner waters of the body...
to open the heart to the radiance of the sun each day, in awe.. wow another day of life, another day i get to meet & experience the sun.. a miracle!
allowing the suns warmth to illuminate remembrance of the divine sparks & shimmering golden templates of pure radiant love within. love that warms the world. the love of eternal embrace.
I feel so grateful to have connected with these Earth beings, & feel so grateful to be able to be in their presence from time to time <3
next time you're at the water, see how the sun creates shimmering golden light & sparkles on water as she moves.. what if this is happening to us humans too, each day when we drink water & then sit in the presence of the sun? what if one zooms into the shimmering dance of the sun & water of their being?
Thank you Grandfather Suguaro
Infinite love,
Jess
