Flowers & Water

Updated: Apr 22

Hi from Sedona!

As we begin to frolic with the seasons change, I’ve been spending a lot of time in giddy love amongst the first wild flowers blooming! Desert Mallow just steels my heart every year!

Wild flowers… are WILD because they’re W I L D. No one seeds wildlands, & then waters it with a hose or dripline.. They just ARE WILD. Through the brilliant mysterious orchestration of Mother Earth, the symphony of the elements, & all her kingdoms working in co-operation & harmony together the majesty of wildflowers is created… every. single. year. Cyclical order that can teach everything needed to know to live in harmony with Earth.

Wild flowers are miracles.

Wild flowers teach me of beloved & divine natural/sensory attunement, natural order in perfect harmony in perfect beauty. They remind me of the original blueprints of Mother Earth as the Oasis she is and forever will be. Each season offers an invitation into cyclical living, but springs offers a blossoming truth that even through the toughest winters, the flowers will still bloom… spring is a time when the prayers prayed in our winter’s nest begin to bud. And slowly as we approach summer, we see those prayers bloom.. Petal by petal.

Maybe, Mother Earth in all her magnificence, created flowers to bring humans into awe, wonder, appreciation, joy… to stop us in our tracks, so we could remember our wildness, reminding humans of our natural state, & our birthright to live like a wild flower… crafted grown & created by the rawness, the majesty & divinity of the elements. What. An. Honor.

Flowers support me to remain inspired to find, to share, & to expand this wonder & awe within myself while simultaneously supporting me to find + remember it amidst challenge. When I feel inspired, I feel directly connected to my hearts deepest prayers, & the divine spark that moves through me. Maybe part of the flower's purpose is to assist humans back into states of inspiration.. & make art.

It is utterly brilliant the work, purpose, & place of flowers on Earth. They are SO important. I know I will likely never understand, so all I can do is say thank you.

i’ve realized in recent times, my love, reverence, devotion, honor, & awe for the kingdom of flowers is ever growing, whimsicle, expansive, eternal, all encompassing, vast, everlasting, overwhelming, unconditional, wildly mysterious, so silly, & ohhh so sweet.

I bow to the flowers & plants for guiding the way, for teaching & showing me what can be created through devotion, especially when it’s hard to show up.

I cannot imagine living a single day without bowing to the kingdom of plants, flowers, Water, and Mother Earth.

This season of spring has brought some new guests to my door.. the mushroom kingdom & mycelium networks.. the unseen ones who connect it all together. if you feel called to learn more about mushrooms & the mycillum kingdom, i highly recommend the movie "Fantastic Fungi" by Paul Stamets, it is mind blowing & so beautiful!

Happy Spring!

:Some ways I love to connect with Mother Earth in the Spring:

I love to share gratitude to the water I drink each day.

I find so much joy giving offerings when you go to nature.

I love to talk to the plants in my garden & yard, acknowledging them as sentient beings (they hear & feel this & it brings them a lot of joy in my experience)

each day I take a few minutes to slow down, & listen to how Mother Earth is calling me..

upon visiting natural bodies of water, i always pray for all waters to be restored to crystalline purity, for the waters to be protected & for all humans to have access to clean drinking water once again.

i talk to all the buds & blooming plants &tell them how beautiful they are! :)

I feel inspired to share a personal ancestral nugget.. I've been working with the plants of basil, oregano, lavender, rose, linden, thyme, lillys, and elder.. they have been deeply supporting me in my own ancestral remembrance. i feel so grateful.

i came from a lineage of woman with extraordinary Rose gardens, woman who spent their lives amongst flowers and wrote much poetry about it.. & a lineage of woman whose answer to everything was basil & oregano. it has been such a joy & honor to connect with these plants that my ancestors grew or used in their own kitchens daily.. these plants & flowers they loved so much & that supported them in their lives. they are keys into knowing & remembering my roots, from where i came.

To know my roots & honor them feels like a gift I can give back to Mother Earth.

Where are your ancestral roots from?

What plants grew around your ancestors?

Happy Spring!

may it be so filled with joy, full of giggles sweetness, abundant gardens & soo many beautiful fragrant flowers! & so nourishing everything :)

Love,

Jessica
